Needle Felt 3 Wise Men

I have made a start on these funky chappies! 2 of what will soon be the 3 Wise men. I'm really happy with these two, but I seem to have lost my mojo whilst working on the third one, so I'm taking a break for a day or two & will hopefully be feeling more inspired when I get back to finishing the last one.

23.09.13 - So I did eventually get back around to the third wise man! He is very oriental!

Needle Felt Pixie.

Here is a Pixie I made last night, I will probably use it as a Christmas/winter decoration.

I bought a glue gun!!!

Wo-hoo!!! It arrived in the mail today.

I am now the proud owner of a miniature glue gun!!! How much fun is this going to be?

Anything that can get stuck, will get stuck!! Watch this space.......

Needle Felt Ballerina

I've made this pretty little Ballerina for a friend of mine, I think she would look fabulous as a Christmas tree decoration.

I went out & purchased some embroidery thread in a fleshy colour for this one & again made the body using pipe cleaners. The embroidery thread works so much better than standard cotton thread, its so much thicker, it covers better and it has a lovely silky sheen.

Needle Felt Fairy Mobile

I thought I would have a go at making this fairy mobile, using what I learned in the previous tutorial that I linked to, using pipe cleaners for the body.

The tutorial said to use embroidery thread to wrap around the pipe cleaner, which I did not have, so I had to improvise using cotton. I would not recommend this as the cotton is only fine, it took bloody ages! Anyway, it looked like this when finished:

I used a polystyrene ball for the head & got stuck in making the fairy. I made a flower fairy holding a bouquet of pink roses.

I felted onto a polystyrene ring and added some more cute pink roses

I used clear nylon thread to attach it all together & decorated the strands with beads & some tiny bells, so that it would make a light tinkling sound when it moves. And here is the finished thing.

Needle Felt "Buzzy Bee" Mobile.

The son of one of my very close friends is almost upon his first birthday & I wanted to hand make a gift for him, using felt.

I have decided to make a cute mobile to hang in his nursery & I really wanted to have a go at making some cute little "Buzzy Bees"!!!

I've made the bees & the beehive with a large and a small daisy. I want to find a twig to suspend them from, because I think it will look more organic. I have seen lots of examples of mobiles made in this way on Google images/Pinterest & I think they look amazing.

I will post more photos when I begin to assemble the Mobile.

11.09.13 - Update!

Walking to School yesterday to pick my daughter up, I was walking past some allotments where there is a pear tree that overhangs the fence. On the floor underneath the tree was a branch that had fallen off that looked absolutely perfect for my Buzzy Bee Mobile. I scooped it up & took it with me. When I got home, I removed all the leaves & set to work assembling the whole thing together.

As a finishing touch, I cut some 'leaves' from a sheet of green felt & attached them using green thread & a bit of glue. Very technical stuff.

Here is the finished Mobile. I can't wait to give it to my friend on her Sons birthday!

New Needles have arrived!!!!

I ordered a new set of felting needles from Ebay & they arrived a couple of days ago.

I had broken a few of the needles that came with my original kit, and also the original needles had coloured tops, but no key to show which colour represented which gauge needle!

So I was thrilled to find that my new needles came colour coded with full descriptions of what each coloured needle should be used for.

I got my needles from HeidiFeathers.Com, via their ebay shop.

I've got a lot of new ideas that I want to start working on so i'm keen to get started!
